Lithium Batteries — LiFePO4 for Solar Lighting

LiFePO4 (lithium iron phosphate) battery packs for solar lighting storage, with a typical 5–8 year service life and wide-temperature operation.

Overview

The battery decides how long a solar lighting system keeps working. Mast Lighting uses LiFePO4 — lithium iron phosphate — chemistry throughout the solar range because it tolerates deep daily cycling, holds capacity across a wide temperature band and is thermally stable, which matters when the pack sits inside a sealed housing in direct sun for a decade.

Typical service life is 5 to 8 years, and packs operate across the same -40°C to 65°C band as the luminaires they power. Capacity is specified per project from the nightly load and the required rainy-day autonomy, so a monsoon-region installation with seven days of backup carries a different pack from an equatorial site with three.

Packs are supplied inside integrated luminaires, in separate battery boxes for split systems, and as standalone storage for renewable energy applications.

How long does a LiFePO4 solar lighting battery last?
Typical service life is 5 to 8 years. LiFePO4 chemistry tolerates deep daily cycling far better than lead-acid, which is why it is used across the Mast Lighting solar range.
